Mother's Day on the Canandaigua Lake Wine Trail

May arrives quietly in the Finger Lakes. The patios open, the food trucks begin their Friday rotations, and by the second weekend of the month the trail has fully shaken off winter. Mother’s Day falls right in that window, Sunday, May 10, and several stops along the Canandaigua Lake Wine Trail are making a strong case for spending it outside.

May 7

20 Deep Winery starts the week with a Mom & Me floral arrangement class, an easy, hands-on way to spend time together before the weekend crowds arrive. It’s a quieter, more personal way to kick off the celebration.

May 9

Hometown Wine Company keeps things simple with live music from Dr. Fish, 2–5 PM, no reservations needed. Stop in, grab a glass, and settle in for the afternoon. It’s the kind of low-key start to the weekend that doesn’t require much planning.

May 10

Hazlitt Red Cat Cellars in Naples leans into the occasion with $8 mimosas, a casual, come-and-go option that pairs well with a slow morning on the trail. Just up the lake, The Cove at Hotel Canandaigua opens for lakeside brunch at 9 AM, offering another way to start the day with a view.

Whether it’s a quick stop or part of a longer loop around the lake, the trail offers plenty of ways to shape the day around what Mom actually wants—good wine, good food, and time outside.

Plus, If Mom Wants To Keep Going

Sip Into Summer follows the next weekend, May 16, at Inspire Moore. All nine wineries pour in one place, with live music, wood-fired pizza, local vendors, and a blind tasting that puts two 2026 Passports on the line. Noon to four.

There’s no single right way to do it. But May on the Canandaigua Lake Wine Trail is its own kind of gift, and Mother’s Day is a good reason to be there.
